AMG Wheels

Do the AMG wheels come in an 18 inch or 19 inch size OEM? I've only seen them in 20 inch. Do the 20 inch wheels provide a harsher ride?

Yes, the AMG wheels come in 19's, go on MBUSA website and build an S class. You can see the wheel options. Yes, the 20's are supposed to ride harshly.

I have 20 inch AMG wheels and don't think that the ride is harsh. But then, everyone has a different idea of how their cars should feel.

Depends on which car. The S63 only comes in 20” (forged) while the 450/560 have the 19” and 20” (cast) option.

My 2015 came with the AMG sport package and the 20 inch run flats. I have had two wheels crack and the rears only last 8000 miles because of the ridiculous rear camber. I switched to 18 inch wheels with 245/50-18 tires on all four corners. I could not be happier. The ride really is not that much better but the tire life is greatly improved and I can drive without worrying about getting a flat due to a cracked wheel.

Its strange that you say you do not notice that much of o difference going from 20" to 18". Are they standard or Extended Mobility Tires? And what pressure do you run?

Had 19's with run flats. Now 20's with continental dws 06. The non run flats feels the same as the runflats IMO, even with an extra inch of wheel.

63 Falcon vert
My '12 S550 is on 19s no RF
My '16 S550 is on 20s with RF
Both AMG sport option.
'12 rides way smoother than the '16.......I plan to dump the 20/RF.

I am running Pirelli P7 245/50-18 at 34 psi. These are standard tires, not run flats.

I can notice a difference in the ride from the 20" with run flats, but it is not that big a difference. It certainly does not transform the car.

On long trips I now carry a full spare belted into the right rear seat. Of course that doesn't work well if I need the space for a passenger. The seat belt holds the tire firmly in place, and moving ng blankets protect the interior.
