How To Get A 600LT Under 9 Seconds At The Quarter Mile – A Wheels Boutique Build

Back in January of 2019 we were commissioned to build a McLaren 720S for a very “wild” client of ours and he had one goal in mind: become the first in the world to break 8 seconds at the quarter mile in a 720S. Well, we helped him do just that and now we are back with McLaren #2 for the same customer – but this time with a Lime Green 600LT Spider.

Almost all of the same modifications that were done for that 720S have been installed on this 600LT resulting in yet another sub 9 second monster. HRE R101 Lightweight wheels start the party off by weighing less than 20 lbs each despite being wider and 1” bigger in diameter than the factory wheels. The two turbos were pulled out and sent to Dyno Spectrum for full power upgrades. We also flew in Dyno Spectrum’s head engineer to perform a custom tune specific to this car and the upgrades it possesses. The upgraded turbos and Velcoity AP downpipes worked in unison to improve both efficiency and power delivery. Last but not least we tapped into Novitec to shed some weight with their N-Largo Carbon Hood and improved ride comfort and handling with their Sport Springs.

What is better than getting into the 8’s at the quarter mile & having the reliability to drive the car back home in comfort? Doing all that without a roof
