E55 Resonator..more
Who's got their resonators removed from their E55? Any improvement in hp, sound? Comments?? Also how much does it cost to get it removed?

I have removed mine. No power gains, but the exhaust growl sounds pretty awesome, especially when behind the car as it accelerates. Cost depends on what you want to do. You can do a straight pipe in aluminized steel (~$200 with install) or stainless (stainless costs MUCH more $$ b/c you have to mandrel bend it) and you'll need to weld from the cat to the pipe, then from the pipe to the muffler. Or, you can use twin high performance resonators as well which are 100% stainless steel. Welding is still needed. If you're shop is good enough, you can make flanges on both ends so you don't end up welding.

I remember you had yours removed.. do you by any chance have any sound clip/wav file with the resonators removed?? Would like to hear it.
Thanks!

It sounds nice. I totally like my RBTech exhaust because it's loud and deep (430). But of all the others I've heard, I think the AMG muffler without the resonator sounds better than other aftermarket exhausts.
