question about engine swaps

Two questions:
1------------------------------
I was looking around and saw that the following ECU is used in many of the M112 incarnations

C240 C320 E240 E320 S350 4-Matic Part #: 112-153-44-79

I am curious if I have access to a usable 320 engine only and wanted to swap it into my 240 ,then since my ECU is the same part then it should work right?

2-----------------------------
what about the possibility of going even bigger? like to an M113? you see I have a short wheel base w220 S280 and I have the engine out of the car to clean up some stuff... while I have the M112 out I was wondering about he posibility of shoving in an M113. is it as simple as a mate with the shaft and a swap of the ecu? oil & water plumbing aside ofcourse.

1 No

The ME is coded to the Engine and will NOT Work with another Engine
as the 240/320/350 etc all have different maps (Inside the ME Control unit)

2 Sure...It can be done..as long as You have the $$$

Mark C,

i understand that it costs $$$ for a transplant, but if you think about it this way, MB's costs an awful lot in asia... let say a 2002 S500 here costs on average 250,000 USD.... my humble 2002 S280 was also no exception, coming in at just under 110K USD.

I travel to the states often and I see 500 M113 engines going for 3000-5000 USD, if I do the maths this is a minute portion of the cost of the car. Labour charges here is next to nothing so I'm seriously investigating this option.

Another thing, a friend of mine has imported a wrecked 2002 S55, complete with everything, and I'm very interested in getting that to work with my car. If you're in the know then could you please give me a rough outline as to the amount of work involved for the transplant...

lets say the 55 engine, ECU, harness, diff... the plumbing aside, and i'd like to keep the stock 280 shaft as I have the short wheel base. I'll probably snap the shaft huh?
