DOT 5 Brake Fluid
From anybody who actally knows what will happen, please no guesses or Gran Turismo style comparisons, what effect, if any, would there be if i replaced the DOT 4 brake fluid in the c230 coupe with DOT 5? would the pedal become stiffer? shorter stopping distances? better resistance to boiling over? (if it does get hot enoguh to boil) Thanx.

Make sure if you do switch to DOT5 that you flush the lines with it before you do the final fill to get rid of ALL the DOT3/4. There is little reason to switch unless you are really heating up your brakes a lot. In normal driving there is no decrease in stopping distance.

I run Dot 5 on a racing bike and can't overstate the need to thoroughly clean all traces of Dot3/4 fluid from system before filling with Dot5. On the bike we actually disassemble everything -calipers/brake lines etc to make sure the job is done properly.
