ML 55 AMG
Ml 55 Lacking Go
I have an Ml 55 AMG which is performing poorly. If you kick it off the line it is very slow to get away but does wind up eventually. It has no problem reving out, however the changes are sloppy, it seems to "flare" especially form first to second. Once you get into third gear it gives some resemblence of what it used to perform like.
Any suggestions? It has been looked after by the Merc dealer in Melbourne recommended by Merc Australia after we had to have the heads replaced due them "carboning up". They were cleaned whilst on the car a couple of times but it really made no difference. The other problem which also led to the head replacement was the death rattle on start up. Sounded like a big end bearing running dry. Anyway the heads were replaced and it has never been the same.
I was so frustrated that I had it dyno'd. The pull was in third gear and the results were exactly as per the specifications 510nM and 260 kW. But the performance has never been the same.
I got some great help from this site recently on another problem and thought I would try again.
Regards
John
