2003 E55 AMG
im not positive but i think you would need/want to change more than the engine. Brakes, exhaust system, LSD for example, not completely sure though. You should post this in the amg section

Hey thank you for the information and why would need to add all the other for the engine to work...I will try the AMG to get answer before the engine get sold.

Holy $#!$ dude! That's one macho task. I think what the other poster meant was simply, your SL500s current parts-- brakes, transmission, exhaust etc.-- would not be able to handle the massive power of the SL55. Your brakes would go in day one, if your transmission doesn't beat it first. Not exactly sure what you should do, but hell if your going to swap out your tranny I'd get something bulletproof that can withstand enormous amounts of torque.
Again, like the other poster said, post this one in the AMG section. You see, you're current exhaust for example might not have as big a diameter as the AMG exhaust thus -choking- your engine and depriving you of power.
Just my two cents, I don't think it's as easy as plug and play. Oh, and almost forgot, your computer might need some reprogramming.

The engine itself would fit, but you would need all the other ancillary electronics......the improved ABC, big brakes, beefed up trans, etc.
I think that in the end you would be better off selling the 500 and getting a 55. They really are 2 different cars.

Well the thread have move to the AMG and I think getting the engine is dead and will look on the dealer lot see what they have or go a different route with my mod. Thanks everyone for your input.

Alternatively, if you have a good engine you could supercharge it through Kleeman.
