Thumbs up Changing our Motor Oil and The (lifetime) ATF/Rear Diff Fluid

My CLK now has 53k miles on the odometer.
The more I research our "lifetime" diff fluid and ATF, and the problems some MB owners have had, the more I come to the conclusion that you actually need to change these fluids often. Even if you have a 100k mile warranty, preventative maintenance is KEY and blowing a trans or gears is not a fun experience.
I went forward with a Royal Purple oil change. I will now (tomorrow) flush the trans and replace with Automatic Transmission Fluid. The Gear oil will be changed as well...
They all happen to be royal purple as well, because after a ton of reading, I thought they would give me the most protection and longevity. Others have also shown to work well in tests I have read.

The point here is not to start another RP thread and how it's better or worse than anything else, rather to highlight that MB World has complete searchablity on topics like this, with ACCURATE information (for the most part). Good Lookin Out.
It may have saved another trans - mine.

First of all read http://www.thecarconnection.com/Enth...81.A10297.html

Then, note, that there is no auto trans fluid for your car that's suitable except for that from the dealer.

What made you hooked on Royal Purple (which has no manufacturer approvals) when there are many other oils that do have manufacturer approval ratings?

I have done a ton of reading and research.
I am no proponent of Royal Purple or any others........ I just think it will do the best for longevity, in my car, compared to the others.

But you know what they say about opinions.............
