Our day in Mecca ...

Today we visited MKB, Lorinser, the MB factory and the Porsche factory. We have visited some huge dealerships too! Tomorrow to Essen!
Be ready for some awesome pics and stories when we return!

(im getting a 2002m coupe)
Well, we are in the fatherland!
Brad, bring goodies for the CLK. There has to be a manufacturer that builds a grill with the BIG STAR on it, that doesn't need to buy the whole hood to get it. The C class, the E class, the S class, get's it, but the CLK doesn't...?

Essen MotorShow 2002
We will start off with the Essen MotorShow. For those of you that do not know what this is, it is the largest aftermarket accessory show in the world for European cars. You have nearly all of the big tuners and parts makers. The show is quite large and extremely crowded (but they do serve beer in most booths so that makes the crowds easier to take
) In these pics you can see the highlights. We saw Kleemann, Lorinser, MKB, Carlsson, H&R, etc. Any questions on the show please ask. We will have some announcements after the new year on new products too!
H&R Special Springs
Here we are at the H&R factory in Linnestadt, Germany. This is close to Essen and every year H&R invites select dealers to the factory for a few days of product development discussions, tours of the new goings on at the factory and a lot of fun!
MKB
Here we are at MKB headquarters outside of Stuttgart. Most of the cars were at the Essen Show, so it looks quite empty, however, this G-wagon was a very famous and successful championship rally car! Very nice and small shop with awesome abilities.

Lorinser
On the other side of the street (almost literally as MKB is just down the road) is the HUGE Lorinser plant. This is actually just one of two plants, the other is in the final stages of construction and plans to be even nicer. Many do not know that Lorinser is one of the largest independent MB dealerships in Germany and the world as well as a great tuner. That white R230 is so amazing in real life, it has a ton of charisma, more then pics can show!

BAM! Just when our day can't get any better, I say "Simon, look at that sweet w211, look at the exhaust!" Simon retorts "Catch up to that, that is the new e55!" Luckily he pulled into the service station and let us take a bunch of pics!
Mercedes
We got to the factory late. We did not get much of a chance to walk through the factory at all due to the time, but we did get a chance to see the museum.

Porsche
It was even later when we got the Porsche. The new Zentrum dealership was open, but that was about it. We took a walk around and spied into the factory buildings a but and did see some production though.

BMW
This was by far the nicest day of the entire trip weather wise. Too bad it was a Sunday and everything was closed. The pictures are still nice! I have been in the museum and factory before in 1998 when I did a euro delivery on my 540 though and it is not as impressive as MB or Porsche.

Bologna MotorShow 2002
Well, we made the long drive from Essen to Bologna (only nine hours at about 135mph the whole way - our rental Citroen would not go ANY faster
). This was more of a 'public' show being the 'detroit' of Italy. It was a huge show and quite impressive. Very cool to see full lines of makes we do not get.
Ferrari
Impressive and overwhelming. Our tour of the Ferrari factory is always amazing. This was my second time. The first I saw the last of the F50's come off the line, this time we saw and sat in one of the first Enzo's! We were also able to see the F1 team testing it's wet weather set-up at the testing track - Fiorano.

That is more or less the trip. Lot's of stories and embellishments I am sure will follow! Feel free to ask away!
Thanks
Brad
