Question about LSD

As I understand the LSD redistributes power to the wheel with the strongest "grip"

Wouldn't this cause excessive spinning in ..losing control.. situations?

Any cons with getting it for regular driving, not racing all the time?

Also if someone can explain in laymen's terms the workins of LSD would be great.

Last piece of intel i got - lsd's make sense if you're planning to drift.
which makes sense to me.
Anyone else care to shed some light?

An LSD prevents spinning by routing torque to the wheel that has traction. It does the opposite of causing excessive spinning or losing control.

The negatives are increased tire wear (it interprets the outer rear wheel's normal higher rotational speed in a curve as "slip" and transfers some torque to the inner wheel, causing some wheel scrub), increased maintenance (LSDs need regular oil chanes) and some handling oddities that you need to get used to when pushed hard (understeer/oversteer changes).

For normal driving, especially with traction control, the LSD does not really come into play very much. It is a good option to have if you have lots of winter weather or if you plan on having any track days.

LSD is great, it also will allow you to drive with less ASR intrusion.
