Bore out 4.3L to 5.5L
Hi all:
I was wondering if anyone know of a shop in the west coast capable of boring out my engine from 4.3L to 5.5L? I know Brabus does it, but does anyone else?
Thanks
DLS

Interesting! How long of a process does this work take? Also, what kinda $$ tag am I looking at? I was thinking about doing the 5.5L with the Kleemann s/c...heh heh heh. I know it will cost alot, but I figured I'd see how much the preliminary work would cost. Will they remap your ECU? What about the tranny?
Thanks,
DLS
Oh yeah, what kinda MKB mods do you currently have?

All German tuners, throw the 4,3 block and cylinderheads out,
when they build 5,8 - 6,1 engines out of a 430.
You can check all pricelists, it's allways more expensive to bore up
a 430 than the 5,0 or 5,5, the 2 last share the same block and bore.
Do you still use the 4,3 heads and block ?????.

If I where you, I would go for the compressor at the 4,3 L engine.
It will give you a very fast car and there will never be a problem with it.

Yeah, that's what everyone tells me to do. Actually, I want to have my engine bored to 5.5 so that I can s/c that engine. Just a thought, no definitive plans yet.

I am pretty sure the 4,3 K can frighten most people, some want's
more, but there is a fine line between an everyday car and a Sunday racer.
If you want to go the 5,5 way, then it's stupid to bore up the old engine, why not buy a used engine from a 55 with a damage.
Then the engine swap can be done in a day or 2 and you have the real thing, if somebody can do the electronic.
SL 55 AMG
No pictures yet, both cars are in the middle of mods.

Iam working late and I really needed that laugh, actually I do have alot of hair on my chest, but the women seem to like it. I want to do some "light" mods with respect to bolt on. If I wanted to go all out, I would keep my current 2000 E55 and "Kleemanize" it. What do you suggest for the new motor since you have on in your SL?

I believe that upgrade includes an all new blower, with respect to money and the car that I currently own, that would be counter cost productive to take off an amg blower and replace it with a kleemann, I would keep the current car if I wanted to do that.

b) Almost every part (including heads, valves, cranks, etc.) has been completely custom made after extensive blueprinting. This project is very comprehensive and is not some ill-planned, underfunded tuning project.
c) I agree that boring a 4.3 to a 5.5 is not the way DLS should go. Either SC the existing 4.3 or just get the 55 and SC that. I ahd my 430 running about 490 hp and 470 lb/ft torque with the combination of the MKB kit and the Kleemann SC.
d) For the person who asked, I had the MKB 55 Hypertune Kit and 3.07 differential software installed.

I think I am a decent driver, never tested on a track. I do agree with you that a driver upgrade would be necessary. I feel like I can control my car fairly good right now, but if I do the upgrades I might be outta my league.
Good looking out.
