E55
new member.... Kleeman question
After reading several posts I realize Kleeman is the only way to S/C my E55. My question is the life expectancy of the engine with the added horsepower. I know people have 20+k miles with them but what should I expect? Also, how about the tranny. Is it built enough to handle the HP?

Life expectancy will vary, depending on your driving habits, but this is the analogy I normally use:
The stock motor is built to easily last 200,000 miles. The Kleemann supercharger will add about 5-10% additional wear on the engine. If you double 10% to 20%, you still have a 160,000 mile engine.
The Kleemann Supercharger is designed to work with the stock drivetrain. It can handle over 600lbs of torque, which even the Kleemann 55 doesn't have.
I'm also in Southern CA. If you'd like to see the Kleemann on my CLK43k sometime, let me know.
Thanks,
Ben

I might take you up on the ride in your clk. I am curious to feel how much gain there is for the $18k+ investment. I would like to find someone with an E55 so I could really know what to expect.
Is there any change in the idle or noise level under "normal" driving conditions?

Not really, it's a twin-screw supercharger, which does not have the whining sound people complain about from vortechs. I will have a customer down with his CLK55k in the near future. If you'd like, I can ask him to show you his car; it walks away from mine!
