Techinical question on superchargers

Hello

Im planing to convert my R129 to run a supercharger setup, My question is...some of the superchargers fit on both 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder models from a 2.3L-3.2L engines...if i ran with a supercharger from a 4 cylinder, would the efficiency decrease due a bigger displacement from what the supercharger was intended to work with?

depends on what supercharger it is. Find the model of the blower and look up the compressor map, that will tell you what the efficiency range is. I know the M111 uses an eaton unit, I think it's an m45. It's not very big. if you want to push more than single digit psi you may want a bigger unit. If you are looking to go through the trouble of swapping a supercharger on you may want to also look into a turbo, they are more efficient than SCs and create less heat. It's also easier to adjust the boost.

the thing is, where i live....it has to be an OE for the car to pass it registration and be road legal...as far as the information im getting...its better to run with a supercharger that was designed to run on a 6 cylinder 3L+ displacement because the smaller superchargers will have to spin at a higher rate to achieve the same HP+ gain as the bigger superchargers...so im guessing im running with the eaton M62 that the SLK's use

I would definitely go with the M62. The M45 is a pretty small unit and will be way out of it's efficiency range pushing high boost on a 6 cyl.

hmmm.....yet the M45 is fitted to the following cars
98-03 Mercedes Benz 230 Roadster 2.3L 4cyl
02-03 Mercedes Benz 32 Roadster 3.2L V6
99-00 Mercedes Benz C-230 2.3L 4cyl
02 Mercedes Benz C-230 2.3L 4cyl
02 Mercedes Benz C-320 3.2L V6 All SLK

While the eaton website says that the M45 is designed for 2-3L engines with a max operating limit of 14,000rpm....ahh, the eternal dilemma

The SLK32AMG runs at 14.5psi boost and makes 354hp for reference sake. That seems to be the highest output application of the M45. Going off of that It seems that the M45 may be able to fulfill your needs assuming you ca spin on up that fast. stock boost on the 2.3L is much lower.

Not sure where you found your data but a quick wiki search provided this:

---
E32 AMGThe E32 AMG is a special version of the 3.2 L (3199 cc) E32, fitted with a helical twin-screw supercharger and water-to-air intercooler. The supercharger was developed in conjunction with IHI and features Teflon-coated rotors producing overall boost of 14.5 psi (1 bar). Output is 354 hp ECE (260 kW) at 6100 rpm with 332 ft.lbf (450 Nm) of torque at 3000-4600 rpm.

Applications:

2001–2003 C32 AMG
2001–2003 SLK32 AMG
2005–2006 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6
---

Now, I am aware that wiki is not the end all but the M90 would struggle at 350hp let alone the 62 and the 45 is NOT an option as its peak flow is about 300cfm.

I am unaware of any factor SC on non AMG C-class cars. What exactly are you planning? The SC unit is only part of the equation as you will need manifolding and drive as well as fueling/tuning.
