Is all software the same?
From the various inquiries I recieve daily, it seems that many have a common misconception that software tuning is an easy/low-risk upgrade. For the most part, they are right, but it depends entirely on the software being used. Many companies simply resell product from a German company as their own. Some experiment on their own with positive/negative results. As many here already know, we work with Powerchip on all of our software; both for stock and custom cars.
We have been testing multiple brands on a magazine-project Mini Coopers S. The following dyno shows how 2 different software companies can get totally different performance and a/f numbers. The blue line reflects Powerchip's tuning software on a Mini Cooper S. The red line is the Evotech software. As you can see, not only do hp numbers vary, but the Evotech software runs very rich.
