2000 E55 (w210) Dyno
2000 E55 (w210) Dyno
I had my 2000 E55 dynoed. On the first run, it showed max hp of 295.8 max tq of 319.0 (63.7 degrees). The second run showed max hp of 297.8 and max tq of 314.1 (62.6 degrees). The car has K&N airfilters and a homemade "cold-air" box that was previously discussed on this forum. I would post a pic of the dyno sheet, but everytime that I try to post it the forum tells me that the dyno pic is too big. Sorry.
Has anybody else dynoed their W210? If so, what kind of stock hp and tq #s did you get?
I purchased the underdrive pulleys for my car and will now have them installed and dynoed thereafter. I had my 99 E55 dynoed with the underdrive pulleys and that is discussed at https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ighlight=dyno.

At the flywheel, the hp and tq could translate to (if I did my math correctly):
1) using the figures of 297.8 hp and 314 tq:
a) if 15% loss due to auto tranny
350.4 hp (297.8 divide by 85%) and 369.4 tq (314 divide by 85%)
b) if 16% loss due to auto tranny
354.5 (297.8 divide by 84%) and 373.8 tq (314 divide by 84%)
c) if 17% loss due to auto tranny
358.8 hp (297.8 divide by 83%) and 378.3 tq (314 divide by 83%)
d) if 18% loss due to auto tranny
363.2 hp (297.8 divide by 82%) and 382.9 tq (314 divide by 82%)
2) using the figures of 295.8 hp and 319 tq:
a) if 15% loss due to auto tranny
348 hp (295.8 divide by 85%) and 375.3 tq (319 divide by 85%)
b) if 16% loss due to auto tranny
352.1 (295.8 divide by 84%) and 379.8 tq (319 divide by 84%)
c) if 17% loss due to auto tranny
356.4 hp (295.8 divide by 83%) and 384.3 tq (319 divide by 83%)
d) if 18% loss due to auto tranny
360.7 hp (295.8 divide by 82%) and 389 tq (319 divide by 82%)

Those are nice improvements, I have also dynoed my car, and I recently changed my spark plugs, I'd like for you to try that mod, I got about 4 HP at the wheels in 4th gear improvement, I bought Bosch Platinum 4+ plugs, people in this forum are very exceptical about the gains and your test would confirm these gains if a second car saw gains as well.
youcould do them yourself, they are not that hard to change.

Other than that it is very easy, remove your top cover and air filter housing, remove the wires just from the plugs and remove the coils (this gives you a lot easier access and a chance to clean the area). With the right tool it should take you 1 hour (it took me 3 because I didn't have the tool and I din't know the whole process)

Let me know if you have any more questions.
The acutally dyno numbers may be reduced due to the way the car was dynoed. There is a GREAT white paper on dyno testing written by Steve Dinan. I know that the paper is strictly talking about their dyno tests of BMW's but it should apply to any car.

Dinan's white paper on dynoing cars was written in response to several Dinan S2 M5's dyno-tested outside of Dinan's facility and resulting in hp far less than advertised. We disagree with many points made in this white paper, as they are an unfounded attempt to justify weak hp numbers by basically saying if it isn't dyno-tested by Dinan, it is wrong.
