why go supercharger

why not just spend 1k and get a direct-port nitrous kit. safe up to 20% on stock fuel system and if you want more upgrade your fuel pump/injectors, but never go over 30% nitrous to get your power on a stock engine, and youll be safe.

cause a supercharger doesn't run out

and because some of us here don't live our lives a quarter mile at a time

Performancewise, a nitrous system is excellent if you're drag racing and as long as your car is going straight when the nitrous kicks in. Most nitrous systems are designed to work when the throttle is wide open so a N20 system is not something you'd want for road&track racing...introducing N20 during a turn can cause the back end of your car to want to swap places w/the front end (spin out). For road & track racing you would want either a supercharger or a turbocharger.

It would seem to me a properly dyno tuned N20 direct port system w/ the essential safety features would cost in excess of $1K...I've been given quotes of $2500-$4K.

Regards
Richard

Daimler Benz has used

supercharged engines since WW1.They also used Nitrous during WWII.They quit using the bottle in late spring 1945. FWIW,one very common MBZ aircraft powerplant used both supercharging AND nitrous.BMW did the same.
Your question makes me believe that you've never driven a decent blown car of any type. It's not like most turbo setups...NO
LAG.Instant, predictable response every time you go to the throttle. And no worries about ever running out of power.
Don't get this wrong-I think that Nitrous is a great power adder at the dragstrip.

Nitrous has its place but a great many people that go supercharger or turbocharger (on other car models) started with nitrous. Hard to be forced induction.

Nitrous isn't street viable for everyday use, how much is a 150shot replacement?

I'm not even sure 150 shot is viable, I've never used nitrous and I have no idea in what sizes it comes in, I just know it's someone's member name at FerrariChat

The main question here is, why would you NOT s/c or turbo a car?

Why? Because the more avaiable the power, the better the driver you have to be, to be able to use it without getting in over your head. Public roads are not the best place to learn. A little mistake can have life changing consequences. Beyond that, its a matter of how much money you want to spend and how mature you are.

I'd still rather s/c or turbo my MB than putting NAWZ in it.

Why go supercharger? Because I can have this every time I press the gas, and do not have to worry about how often I use it, or refilling a little bottle (which can explode on impact) in my trunk:

Ben

Very impressive dyno chart on the Kleemann!!! Do those #s include the Evosport headers, UDP and software tuning?? I'll be stopping by Evosport sometime this week to pick up a set of pre painted markers...any chance of getting a test ride on that Kleemannize beast of yours? As I'm in the market for a power adder on my E430.

Regards
Richard

That was just the Kleemann supercharger on my 430 w/ 17" stock wheels.

I'm not sure, but I can have Vadim reply later. Remember, on the dyno there is no drag, so mph is not accurate.

Thanks,

Ben

Thumbs up Thanks Ben

Damnnnnnnnnn!!! Finally got the opportunity to test ride Ben's CLK43K...Once he started her up it was immediately obvious by the rumble of the exhaust that I was in for some wicked ride. Slowly driving out of the Evosport's lot and into the street we build speed real quickly!!! And once he punched the accelerator it was apparent that he had awakened a 4.3 - liter monster...going at full throttle the car is blindingly fast and as traffic built up a head, courtesy of the Brembos at all four corners the car stopped on a dime.

Regards
Richard
