Thumbs up Carlsson Engine Tuning E55 W211

Hi,

I bought a new E55 w211 last year. One of the first thing I did was to buy Carlsson's 19" Ultra light 1/16 wheels together with their electronic lowering device (25mm). Advantage with the Ultra light wheels (besides the look) is that the weight is approx 30% lighter than a normal wheel same size.

Two weeks ago I did engine tuning at Carlsson. It is their CK55RS kit. Before tuning they did dyno test on my car. It had 477hp and 728Nm. After installation of the engine kit they dyno the car again. My car has now 550hp at 5890rpm and amazing 934Nm at 2890rpm!!! The car goes fantastic! Especially you feel the torque. It is enormous in low and middle rpm. When putting the gas padel to the floor you feel like a rocket. You feel how the power of the car tries to get traction on the road. The car is now restricted to 320km/h (200miles/h). It could go faster but due to limitation of the tires (Dunlop SP9000) they set the speed to 320km/h.When driving the car in full accelaration it feels like nothing else could catch it. They have not changed anything inside the engine itselves, but only increased the boost with approx 10% plus electronics. The engine runs normal on idle and on normal power usage. The difference is when you floor it...

I have a friend who has an SL55 2003 model and we tested on the german motorway the acceleration before the tuning. We both had 19" wheels. The cars were restricted to 300km/h done by AMG In Affalterbach, Germany. We drove side by side on second gear in 80km/h and then full accelaration to 280km/h (this is legal in Germany). Our car were identicly fast. We also tested in low and middle rpm with same result. After I did the CK55RS tuning we did the same test again... He did not have a chance!!! He was (and still is) chocked over the big difference. My car just flies away from him no matter what rpm we are in! I have done many engine tuning before (mainly BMW like M3, M5, 850CSI etc) but never has the difference been so large before and after the tuning as with my E55.

I could only recommend you to tune your car at Carlsson if you are thinking in that direction. The company is great to business with and very professionall in their work, service and products. You will not be disappointed.

477HP at the rear wheels in stock form? Something does not sound correct here.

Did the do pulley and ECU work to get the 550?

Dear Schiznick,

When they dyno the car they get the power of the rear tires. They also messure the powertrain loss (gear box, rear transmission etc).Correction is made to the temperature and air pressure.
With all these factores they calculate the power of the engine. The difference between before and after tuning is 550hp - 477hp = 73hp messured the same way.
