hey guys. this little clk500 drove up next to me trying to race. as i floored it, we were neck to neck but i had to brake because of a car in front of my lane, then there was a cop so he just bailed. does anyone know how much quicker (if it's quicker at all) the clk500 is compared to a '00 s500? keep in mind that i have heavy chrome wheels and k&n filters- hah. but im considering a powerchip now..

the bigger wheels actually makes you go slower.. I think CLK 500 will beat you. sorry..... it's a smaller, lighter car.

wow that much quicker, huh? pretty impressive. it's still the same engine though right? obviously i'm not all about speed otherwise i would've bought some jap car modded to run 0-60 in 4 secs. i was just curious and interested in racing since it was another mercedes, a 500 nonetheless...

same motor...remember, s class is a huge 4door sedan...clk is a 2 door coupe... one more luxury orientated, and the other more sport. either way, its a win-win situation.

I ran a pre 02 S500 once. Guy couldnt get past my where my door and front fender meet. It was only about 1/8 of a mile though.

You're right, but I don't like the design Mercedes came up with for the new CLK. It should have the new E front fascia and a more aggressive looking rear. It looks too much like a C class. Plus, the car looks smaller than its predesessor. I'd say I'm happier with my S500 rather than the CLK500..(but it's still a nice car)

Uh your way off on those 0-60 times for a '2000-'2004 S500
the corect times are as folows according to Mercedes brochure
S500 0-60 6.1 sec, S430 6.9 sec

I'm not sure about the CLK500 times but if your right on those,
the '2000 S500 would've put up a very competitive race check your facts before you go spouting off....

uh actually, youre wrong. read some car magazines and the 0-60 run reviews. s500 is not capable of 6.1 sorry buddy.

no, the e55 is much faster.. e55 is s/c, the clk55 is n/a.

The S class is actually underrated quite a bit from MB it actually is easily 0.5 seconds faster than that if memory serves some reviewers got a 5.9 for the S500 but regardless the CLK would loose because of the big weight advantage.

Hey are you serious? listen guy I own an S500 '01 it's deffinitly a six sec. car do you have cable tv? ever heard of Car & Driver tv show? they've tested '2000 -'2004 S500's and got even lower than 6.1 sec everyone knows Mercedes are allways conservitive on 0-60 times

agreed, s500 0-60 = 6.1 seconds (conservative factory estimate), common knowledge; clk500 is even faster;

read the post before you comment. the gentleman's car was a c43, not a clk430. two totally different cars.
