Upsolute tuning chip (Ben)

Hey Everyone,

I was hoping I could find a consensus on the quality of the Upsolute tuning chip. I know that Powerchip is the best, but it costs 3 times what Upsolute costs and Upsolute has shops near me, in both Baltimore and DC. I will never have to send my ECU away to get programmed if I go with them.

I would really appreciate it if Ben from Evosport could give me an honest opinion on whether the value is there to go with Upsolute; even though they do not provide the performance of Powerchip. Oh and if it matters I drive a CLK and am going to purchase Evosport's pulley upgrade.

Thanks

Bookie,

I do not know of anyone who has upgraded their car with the upsolute software on their CLK. We had a brief dealing with them in the past prior to working with Powerchip, and have not since looked back. Perhaps others on the forum can post their impressions with them for you?

Hey! where in MD or DC are you from ?? I used to live near Towson!
I was going to go w/ UPSOLUTE before. They are also a big company w/ good reputation. I don't think you can go wrong w/ them.. powerchip is a great company.. too bad, their price is too high. I wonder why their price is set so high.... I know they provide good customer service and good warranty. But, at least offer a pricing that's slightly higher but still competitive w/ other companies.

Thanks for the info yxc145, I'm going to talk with them once I get back to MD. My parents live in Annapolis. I'm in New Orleans right now finishing up with grad school (Tulane), but I plan to move home for a month or two while I look for a J-O-B. That way I can cut expenses untill I know where to buy an apt. I will probably end up in the Baltimore-DC metro area, but I may be doing finance in NYC. Honestly I'll move wherever the best job is; so if anbody on this board is interested in hiring someone with a Masters in Finance let me know.

Make sure you get before and after Dyno runs. Only way to get a true picture of the gain the chip provides.

I've used the Upsolute chip on my E430 previously, the gains are minimal based on R&D's dynojet moreover, the company's local rep does not return calls or emails...I found Powerchip to have exceptional customer service, and I heard the price has dropped considerably since I purchased the upgrade when they first entered the US market.

I hope you have better luck with your Upsolute local rep, also check out Upsolute's forum/board for greater insight of their product...btw: I've had the Evo pulley upgrade for years, no ill effects w/ either software tuners.

My E430 has Evosport's pulley & hi flow manifold since July 2002 (according to the invoice) and the PC software was upgrade on Mar. 2003. Currently I've got 40K miles, my guesstimate would be approx. 20K when the items were installed. ML has only software upgrade.

I just sent them an e-mail. It's near me as well. I prefer a local shop when possible. I think the prices are near the PowerChip pricing (I think).

Nope at least for the C280. I have a price of $390 and that's why I'm considering it; along with the company's background and service.

Where in Fairfax? In 22 miles from there and tossing the coin between Upsolute and PowerChip... I think PoweChip 93 Gold program is $390 (based on
their web information - for my C280).
