Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if the 7 speed Automatic is exactly the same for these two engines? I'm thinking of a performance upgrade for a M278 4.7L in a W166 ML550 to approximate ML63 levels of power and torque (could even be a bit more) but was wondering if the M157 has an upgraded box given its extra torque. Logic would say it has been upgraded, but economics might prove otherwise and they are identical. Obviously it's something to plan for if the M278 box is inferior.
The upgrade I'm thinking about is a Renntech ECU that's meant to add another 140hp and similar torque.
Thanking you all in advance.

The above links say the AMG Speedshift MCT in the ML63 is a 7G-Tronic without a torque converter. On that basis, they are not, strictly speaking, exactly the same.
