Customizing my airbox
I purchased some heat reflector material. When I opened up my airbox, there are many tabs on the box. The pics are of the top of the box. I'm thinking of dremmeling away some or all of the tabs. Should I remove all of them, or just the ones circled in red? Any input or advice would be nice
I know some of you have done this, so please give me some advice! Thanks

From the pics, it appears that the "ridges" are molded into the cover to provide rigidity reinforcement across the surface of the cover. What would be the purpose of removing them? Is your plan to apply the heat reflector material inside the cover? If so, I doubt that there's any benefit since the reflective material is only going to help on the outside.

I am doing it for smoother the air flow, and the heat reflectors will be on the outside. So far I cut one side away, and it is still as rigid as it was before. Over the weekend I'll finish it off and then time for and new acceleration times.

I suspect that removing the ridges will have little to no effect on power input...
I like the idea, and I guess it won't hurt to try it, but I'm pretty sure that there won't be any power gain. I agree that the ridges look like structural reinforcements, but is there any possability that they are also there to help promote a little turbulence? I'm not familiar enough with thermodynamics to explain this well, but it is my understanding that it is beneficial to have some turbulent air flow in certain areas. I know one is in the cylinder itself, as turbulence helps with even cylinder filling, and I thought that there was another spot where turbulent airflow is beneficial. Anyway, that's something to consider. Maybe someone else might have a thought or two about it...

I have also removed the plastic tabs and such. I do not know if it made difference to my C43. But I think the area to spend more time on is the the area where the screen is. I removed mine as it would only be any good if you did notrun an air filter.
Also the airbox area at this location has a very sharp turn that can be smoothed out and rounded some more which helps reduce airflow restriction.

I finished my project, and the car really roars after 3000rpm! I love it! Highly recommended

Does anyone know if an airbox like that (or a C43s) can be fitted on the V6?
Did any of the 320s (or even the 3.7l in the ML 350) have a dual intake?
After I get my UD pulleys I want to replace and mod my airbox, 999gpCLK!
