Help with BMC Performance Filters
Does anyone have any experience with BMC airfilters? I ried ordering a K&N filter for my E55, but they are not imported by the Australian distributor so there is a three month wait as a special order. BMC is available immediately, but I have not heard of them before. I was told that the company was started by an K&N Director and are the same from a performane/quality perspective. Their race filters are used by F1 teams including Ferrari but this says nothing about their oem replacement filters! Any feedback is appreciated.

E55 filters from K&N are part number 33-2183, I had ordered them but they never arrived, pepboys blamed it on K&N.
Anyway I brought my airbox to the local pepboys and found that K&N part number 33-2138 fits our car. This particular air filter is for the 99 Ford full size pickup, 7.3L V8 Powerstroke Turbo Diesel, it fits right in, nice and tight, you just have to cut a couple of tabs on one end of the filter.
You might want to see if you can get this part number over there.

I just checked dimension on the internet;
33 2183 two filters of 134mm X 355mm
33-2138 single 187mm X 349mm.
Are you sure about the fit?

I'm glad we got to this, I decided to take my air filters out, measure them and compare them to the OEM, they are almost the same size, like I mentioned they fit tight (in fact a little tighter than originals)
Here is the pic, but don't use them, eventhough they are almost the same size (3mm longer) the air box has a sealing lip that enters something like a grove and this caused the K&N to brake the border on one of the sides, causing unfiltered air to leak in.
What doesn't make sense is what Pepboys said about the correct part number being 33-2183, if your dimensions are right (which I don't doubt it) that will not fit the E55.
Looks like i'm going to have to order from Performance Products and just wait 3-4 weeks.

33-2183 is the correct part number for the E55 as far as I know. Correct dimensions are 334mm X 187mm. web site had incorrect dimensions for e55 air filter dimensions.

Just Confirming. The E55 requires two of these K&N filters, correct? Do you order 2 or do they come as a set?
A search of that part number (33-2183) gives application for CLK430. Performance Products lists no K&N filters for E55.
