W211 Aimatic Conversion with retaining ADC

Hello all,

I just joined the forum, I was wondering if someone attempted W211 Animatic steel springs conversion wile retaining ADC.
maybe by means of modifying the strut. the reason is I want to buy a W218 and modify it to be more sporty but retain the control over the damping rate, I really like that feature.

Thanks,

2012 cls 550
On the w218 it is easier

I actually changed mine . I purchased a cls 550 2012 model from copart 2 years ago and it came with both front air struts not working. They were ruptured badly ( as if someone did it with a knife on purpose)
basically what you have to do is change to an amg setup. I kept the rear intact as the rear air struts are cheap and more reliable than the fronts.
you have to buy the w212/218 front amg struts and they are a direct fit or you can remove the air bellow from the strut( their is a cap where the air line fits that you remove then you remove the screw and the airbag pops upward)
then you can install kw lowering springs directly. Or you have to source the bottom and upper mounting plates for the springs along with the coils.
you also have to seal the front air lines.
i has been 2 years and it is running fine. The damping control works as stock and i can even lower and raise the rear end. It also balances itself on when someone sits in the back seat. I am very happy with this end result. Roads in my country are very bad, lots of pot holes and front air struts cant handle them.
