m113 5.0 vs amg55 N.A

Guys,
My 500SL R230 has a noisy timing chain.
Timing cover has to come off, because the rubberized idler sprocket has to be exchanged as well. (main cause of the noise, parts of the rubber moulding are gone)

When the engine has to come out, we could take the opportunity to exchange the complete engine for a AMG 55 N.A.
But is that worthwhile?
Since my SL is the five speed version, torque at low rpm is wanted. (i'm an easy driver, like to accelerate firm, but with low rpm's)
I can buy a 367 HP SLK AMG engine, but this seems to be a rather high RPM version of the AMG 55 N.A, torque below 2500rpm even seems to be lower then my current 5.0.
If i would buy a ML 55 AMG engine, (345 HP, but earlier max torque) would i notice a great difference compared to the normal 5.0 engine?
Is it just cams and ecu settings that are different between SLK55 and ML55, or are there also differences between the cilinderheads?
Advise/experience will be greatly appreciated.
