Is vBulletin the best chioce for forums on a hosted site?
I have a hosted site and am in the process of adding a forum to it. Of all the forums that I'm a member of, this one is the easiest for me to navigate around and find the info thats really important to me.
Naturally, I would like to use the same product.
Can one of the folks who helps with this site answer a few questions for me?
1) Is this the best of breed forum software, or is there something out that is even better than this software?
2) Are there other forum softwares that are signicantly less that do the same thing or nearly the same thing? I don't mind paying for a product, but if I can get 95% of what vBulletin can provide for 25% of the price, shouldn't I be leaning that direction?
3) I need to purchase a license or lease a license. I assume that it is better to purchase a license. Is this correct?
Thanks! This is a great resource and well designed.

phpBB has a lot of vulnerabilities. But it is always being updated my the community. (That;s what you get for open source) you get to see the source and find vulnerabilities but members also update and patch it more often.
