MBWorld Acquisition Announcement

MBWorld Fanatic!
End of an era.
Well there goes the show.
One quick google on internet brands, and it seems they've been acquiring sites left and right. I wonder if a certain someone shoulda held out a little longer for a sale, well nevermind.
They also bought the software company used for the BBS.
Well, It's all over now... as the stones once said.

Your chance to own a piece of Mbworld and many other car, travel, loan,
and property related websites, as well as the software used by the members for discussion.
From now on I expect to be paid for my contributions.
No more free advise.

wow, they scooped up corvetteforums too.
unreal. the users create the content on all these forums, provide it for free, but the sites can be sold for millions. it won't just be ads, they will also be data mining posts and profiling users (generically), selling demographic data, buying trends, etc. be careful what you post now.
I guess this is what is meant by the internet "maturing".
very clever of IB to also buy up the software that runs these forums - this way forums that wanted to remain independent, could face big software licensing costs and might have to consider converting their entire forum and database to something else to continue. very clever.

Good luck to all concerned, although I have what I think is a good question, will the new owners get some people from Mercedes to answer our very pointed questions, giving this site the shot in the arm it needs,in terms of expertise??

S-1 for Internet Brands
For those with the patience for and interest in such things, Internet Brands has, like any other company going public, filed an S-1 (and amendments) with the Securities and Exchange Commission, linked below. Reveals interesting strategies and ambitions.
I say, congrats to you guys. These forums require real work and investment and there isn't always an immediate payoff. Good for you for "getting liquid!"
