Key won't turn in lock and smartcard not working
On Mercedes dealers advice had keys reprogrammed but to no avail. Recommended that I buy a new key. Two weeks later key arrives and does not work. (so far approx £300)
Wife points out the problem only occurs when temperature falls below 40F. Hairdryer on ignition switch and everything works!!
Back to dealer for the third time. EIS is diagnosed as the problem. (approx £682 quoted to fit.)
Car is four years old, 52000 miles.
Have resorted to carrying around 10mm tube which I poke into switch and blow into to warm up the switch so I can use the car whilst we await the data to arrive from Mercedes allowing the switch to be changed.
Any one had the same problem?
