E320 wrong outside temperature display

Recently, the temperature display is giving a wrong reading. The dash reads 58 deg. C but the real outside temperature is 15 deg. C. Does anyone know how to fix it? My E320 is 2000 model with 135,000km.
Thanks.

fix on wrong outside temperature display

the cause for my 2000 E320's problem was shorted wires in the temperature probe casing (facing the car, the probe is located beside the right fog light); I had to remove the probe from the mesh panel, clean it carefully and separate the wires inside using a needle; to keep the wires permanently apart, I also pump in black silicone into the cracked probe casing; so far it has been 3 weeks after and no issues; I hope this helps
