W203 steering wheel buttons not functioning.
I have attempted and have finished a facelift on my 2002 C320. I had the bose sound system so I installed a amp with bestbuy. They used the ingition switch as a remote for the amp and it killed the EIS. I paid to have it fixed and now my steering wheel buttons dont work. The plus/minus on the right are completly non funtional and the left side acts funny. I had a star diagnosis done it said there is a open canbus which indeed is open. I cut the connecter off to connect it to the facelifted head unit harness adapter. It was not compatible with the CLK 500 cluster I have now. All steering wheel buttons worked with the cluster before the EIS was replaced. I then attempted my own exam by hooking up the canbus again to see if anything would change and noticed that the track would go down if I tried to go up. The Volume stayed non functional. Its now taped off.
The shop where I got the EIS fixed wants to take the steering wheel apart but I would rather they not do that, they always seem to do some small damage when making a repair. Is this a front sam problem? What should I do? They also are having trouble coding the rear sam so I can have fuel gauge working.
