Help E350 steering ESP gearbox fault

Help E350 steering ESP gearbox fault
Hi
I need help with my 2005 e350
Problem started with it going into limp home
Won't change gear
ESP abs light is on dash
Steering very heavy now
Had this put on Diag and only fault it comes up with is check control unit n47-5 ESP pmlfault
does this mean the control unit is faulty or I have been told it is a gearbox fault
Please help
