2004 SL55 AMG Roadster
Open/Close Hardtop via Key (Is It A Standard Function?)

I've seen varying posts regarding this subject. I just recently purchased a used 2004 SL55 AMG with 22K miles. Minus the notorious "supercharger clutch pack chirp" (which is currently next to fix), the car is in great condition. One thing I haven't been able to figure out is letting the top up/down with the key...

The owner said he was able to do it "once" but doesn't rememer how. I personally figured it was a thing of pushing/holding the "unlock" button for open and pushing/holding the "lock" button for close while ensuring the key was pointed directly at the IR port on the door. Nothing appears to be working.

Hence my question; is this particular feature an option or is there more methodology for getting it to work?

Thanks.

Jay
