How to search??? Am I doing this wrong!?

How to search??? Am I doing this wrong!?
I'm sorta new here, but I've been active on a number of forums for 10+ years. As a new owner of a E55, I've got tons of questions I'd like answered. And I understand most likely these questions have been asked before and I can search them.
However, when I search a term, example: remove factory phone - It seems to list every thread that contains remove, every thread that contains factory, and every thread that contains phone! Yes, it's an absurd about of work trying to find what I'm looking for.
If I place quotations around the term, then it appears to search for the exact term, verbatim. Ideally, like I've seen on other forums, searching remove factory phone pulls threads that contain all the words, in no particular order.
Is this some sort of setting? Because I cannot locate it. Or am I doing something wrong?
