How come it does not matter what you did or when but9 out of 10 times when you click NEW POSTS in top address bar it comes up with the goofy error CANNOT SEARCH yet wait 5 secs or something like that.

All I was doing was either posting or reading have not searched in weeks.

Very annoying.

There were some layout changes on the forums, since then I noticed the issue you are describing. I asked for a changelog but got crickets instead. https://mbworld.org/forums/questions...-question.html
Someone else also asked about it:

This appears to be due to some browsers using prefetch, which is loading links in the background to anticipate you may click on them and hence speed up the load time. It appears some are retrieving the New Posts link, performing the search in the background of your browser, and thus you see the 5 second flood error.

We're investigating it further but a workaround is to disable prefetching in your browser.

I don't think it has been standard to have any "change log" besides announcing some major, new, additions so that members are aware and know how to use the features.

The UI (user interface) was slightly updated. The update itself has nothing to do with the Search 5 second wait error.

Can you at least tell us what changes were made?

You're the first to have reported that across the communities.

In any event, we believe the issue has been resolved. The Prefetech disable, in the browser, was only offered as a temporary workaround while the team investigated and resolved the exact issue.

I just noticed that edge://settings/?search=preload is not the same setting we were referring to.

The exact setting is in Settings, Cookies and Site Permissions, Manage and Delete Cookies and Site Data, Preload pages for faster browsing and searching

Yesterday I did not have issue Forgot to post it.

but today I hit new posts then hit it again after 1 s
Comes up with that error screen but says I have to wait 5 s and I have 1s left.

Weird.
After your explanation where preload is it was on - and I turned off....little while ago

If I understand correctly, that's normal behavior. You can only do 1 search in a 5 second window. So if you "hit new posts then hit it again after 1 s..Comes up with that error screen but says I have to wait 5 s and I have 1s left" then it sounded like you manually did two searches, back to back, in a 5 second period and thus got the flood error. That's normal.
