Pics of Roof Rack on R500
Apparently the roof rack isn't in any literature yet, nor on the dealer configuration thing, yet this R-class I saw today had a factory roof rack with full aerodynamic storage bin (but that was locked inside the car in this photo). Looks factory to me... hopeful we'll find details on this option soon.

I just talked to a sales guy this past weekend and he said he saw an R-class with a box on top of it during a training session in Rancho Cucamonga. Is this the same car?

That appears to be nicely integrated into the roof but not for me. Also, I wonder if there is any wind noise associated with them? On my '98 wagon I took the cross bars off (they were removeable) because of the wind noise generated at high speed.

Roof Rack in Use
Here is a shot of the Roof Rack shown by joshg in use. It shows a small canoe being offloaded from the roof of a R class with the roof rack shown in the above pictures.
