During my test drive, the dealer said they were told to expect diesels in both the R and ML to be available in Fall, '06 as '07 models. This is assuming that the planned distribution of low-sulphur diesel remains on schedule.

Owned many MB diesels (wagons and sedans) and would love to get back into one.
