Ordered R350
I just ordered my R350 in pewter/black with most options except for Sport package which is not available yet. My question for everybody is after reading the ML threads about the tranny issues, anybody actually own the R class and had any problems. Since the ML and the R share the same chassis and the tranny, I am now worried that the R class will have same problems as the ML. Also, anybody have updated info for the DVD entertainment package. That option was not available when I placed the order. Mine is suppose to come in Dec 2005

Don't think you are gonna find anyone owning an R yet, but I wouldn't worry about the tranny issues. Actually not only the ML and R use that tranny but almost the entire lineup does, so that was probably/hopefully an isolate incident....

We got our R500 a week ago. In the ~200 miles I have driven it I have not noticed anything unusual with the transmission. The shift buttons are different than they are in my E and they have taken a little bit to get used to. Other than a minor, but very annoying vibration from the Conti tires, everything works and performs as it should.
Real world MPG 14.6 for the first 450 miles. The vehicle is a nice change after a 10 year string of minvans.
