Trade Value R350

My significant other and I went to the dealership where we bought the MB. We wanted to find out how much our paid off R350 is worth. Since my wife drives the GST majority of the time, she would rather drive a SUV. The R350 was purchased back in November @ invoice price $60,xxx and MSRP was $66,xxx. We accumulated 12,xxx miles and the manager would only take $38,xxx. Give me a (explicit language) break. How can a vehicle lose $20K in 8 months? I'll try another MB dealership. If I receive the same treatment, I will never buy another Benz.

Well the R is a rare example of a Benz that has been a market flop, other Mercedes' don't lose value that fast unless their some high-end AMG product like a S65 or something, otherwise Benz resale is pretty strong.

They can't give you too much more on a R because the R is a slow/hard sell when new.

Current market price is "invoice - $7,000".
The exact same car in new is $53,000. Take a 25% of the first year depreciation is around $40,000. So your deal is not off by a bit but not by a lot....

GSTR350 probably paid a little more for it initially than it was worth (call it the 'new model phenomenon', ala the PT Cruiser). Benz kind of joined the 'minivan' (which is what I consider this) market late doncha think? By like 20 years! I mean, when I heard about the R, I thought 'why now?'

Honda dealership offered $46K for the vehicle, but we declined the offer.

MB is going to have a bunch of disgruntled R owners on their hands when it comes time to trade them in, given the huge depreciation hit, and assuming they stay with the brand. I would also imagine that a high percentage of recent R sales are the hugely discounted leases, so they will be coming on the market in 27 mos or less...which will hurt resale even more.
