Bluetooth for R-class?

We didn't get the teleaid system or whatever it's called in our R350. Is it still possible to add bluetooth handfree kit? Anybody know what the cost is?

Last Month I received an email from MBUSA indicating that they are now supporting GSM cellular handsets in the car, through a parternship with Auto Wireless Solutions. Some information is available at https://wireless4mb.com/handsfree.html

If I understand the details correctly, you need to have purchased the Integrated Hands Free Communication System as part of your factory COMMAND installation. I actually asked your question to my own service department because I'm also interested in this feature.

If/When I know more, I'll pass it along. Maybe someone else has already found the complete answer.

Yeah, I think you are right. I think the integrated hand free communication system is $1500 from what I have gathered from other threads which makes it an expensive upgrade. If you have that then I think you can add the $300 bluetooth module and use any phone that has bluetooth capability.

bluetooth kit

I know the Bluetooth kit is 2400$ in Canada. Expect it to be about 1800$ in the US. Also figure about 3 to 4 hours of billable time to install it. All in all, this is really too expensive. I'd rather leave my phone in the cup holder and use my bluetooth ear piece.

I'm really not stalking you Marcus

I looked into it and decided that this will have to suffice:

Well, it took a bit longer for me to get into the dealer and sort out all the details, but I will share with everyone what I found.

I have a 2006 R500, and for this particular model there is a "completer kit" for cars that were manufactured without the wireless system (do not confuse this with tele-aid, they are distinct systems). I got a couple of different part numbers for the kit, I guess MB is changing the numbering scheme or something:

Completer Kit for R500 (and maybe others):
Q.6.82.0965
also check BQ 682 0962
approximate retail for this is $625 USD

Core kit for R500 (may not be needed if you have certain accessories already installed):
Q.6.82.0962
approximate retail for this is $450 USD

Bluetooth Adapter (I think this is also available from AWS):
6.7.87.5839
approximate MB retail for this is $350

There is also a Star Bulletin on this upgrade. See T-82-70-454A.

Note that the MOST ring configuration must be modified, which can only be done with a Star Diagnosis computer. The Star Bulletin indicates that installing this may void the factory warranty, so consider having a dealer install it for you. I don't know the official installation time, but I would guess they would bill this at 2 hours or so.

Net net, this probably costs about $1000. Certainly that's nothing to joke about. But I think the solution is much more comprehensive than dashboard- or visor-mounted solutions, particularly when you consider that many phonebook and other phone functions will work with the MB dashboard and steering wheel controls. It's got my vote.

Anyone knows whether any retailer still sell these parts? I read from another thread saying that these kits were discontinued. Haven't spoken with the dealer yet. Just found out my R is pre-wired and would love to retrofit this plus a bluetooth cradle adapter.
