Does anybody know if a cd changer can be added to the R350 to replace the single cd player it comes equipped with. I was told this had to be a factory install. If it cannot be done by MB, are there any aftermarket cd changers that can be added on to the system?

MB uses a multi-CD changer module that fits in the glove box of the R. It should be a quick addition to the COMAND by the dealer. You may also find units available through some of the forum sponsors or ebay.
Before I purchased my R I had an E, and the changers for those were quite easy to get and add.

I'm about to buy an R 320CDI, and am wondering if the $700+ bucks the dealer charges for the CD changer is worth it... I want to get a fully-integrated cd changer... I found this one at mbdoctor, which looks identical to the factory changer, and I was curious if anyone's tried it out... It's a heckuva lot cheaper than the dealer's, awfully tempting... if it's compatible... I've emailed mbdoctor for their response...

I'm also looking for anyone that has some pointers on the installation - I'm very capable with a wrench/ etc., but sometimes there are the tricks that you just can't do without on these sort of things..

It's impossible to upgrade to a CD changer in R350. This is typical Benz profit mongering. You have to buy the big 7.1 audio system (you don't really need) just to get a changer.

Save your money. Invest in a CD burner and create your own CDs in Mp3 format. This way you'll get about 10 hours of music on one CD.

FOr the $700, you could buy the iPod kit and an new iPod. DUH.
