Has anyone tackled the installation of the factory Mercedes Ipod Integration Kit in their R yet? I've got one here and it looks simple enough. One question, do I have to have the Comand recoded as the instructions tell me to recognize the kit? I'm sure I know what the answer is, but I thought I'd ask just to make sure.

Thanks!

Just had the dealer install mine, $240. I think Tweeter (or Hi-Fi Buys in other areas) can do it for about $75, I just prefer having the dealer do it for the peace of mind.

f-rod,
Please point me to a site that shows what the components look like. I bought a cable from Wal-Mart that can connect the iPod earphone jack to the jack in the glovebox. I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Does the factory or other upscale kit include a cable that connects and integrates with the bottom iPod connector?

All you'll see is the cable that comes in through the rear of the glove box and connects to the bottom iPod connector.

The cable you bought will work but you will only be able to control the volume frm the steering wheel controls. Everything else you will need to do from the iPod's control panel.

The integration kit allows you to control all functions frm the steering wheel.

Hey FRod, have any idea if the dealer had to reprogram your Comand system to make it work? Here's the page of the instructions I am referencing to.
