So the "new" R class has a 7 seat option now .... 3 in middle row. Does anyone know if it will retrofit into a 6 seater version?

I prefer the center console look.
No idea. But I love my center console. I think it is amazing looking and extremely comfortable.

Steve, I doubt that MB would tool up a new floor stamping for the three-across version. I assume it uses the console mounting points for the seat, and shares the seat belt anchor positions with the outboard buckets.

If a side-by-side comparison shows that is correct, MB could offer the center seat as an accessory for the 6 seat version. They probably won't though, because of liability concerns.

You can probably order the seat and the belts from MB parts.

I took the second row bench out to make room in the car for SEMA and it seems to me the "center" of the seats mounts to a steel plate that is bolted into the same area as the console.

I also have the center 2nd row bench for sale if anyone wants it.

I checked with the parts manager at my dealer. He researched this question and told me "NO"
