Here is the answer from my sevice advisor:


I just ran your vehicle identification number and there currently are no open service campaigns or recalls. The list of technical bulletins apply to actual problems that may occur with any given vehicle and do not necessarily mean that they must be done to every car.

My 2008 R350 is coming up on it's end of warranty. Could anybody give me some good info or checking on what needs to be done? Meaning, biggest problems I should seek looking into. Should I state a TSB is going on with my vehicle?

 

TSB is NOT the same as recall. Not even close.

Recalls deal ONLY with safety and emissions issues and are coordinated by the US government and you will indeed get a letter. The fix is free for the life of the car and for any subsequent owner, should it happen the original owner didn't get it taken care of.

TSBs (Mercedes calls them DTBs, i.e. dealer tech bulletin) cover other issues that arise during a model run. These are covered under initial warranty but are paid for by customer after that expires. Customer must complain to get the service. There is NO letter.
