can the 7th seat be retrofitted?

Does anyone know whether the 7th seat on the newer '08 model can be retrofitted on an older model? Is it as simple as getting that seat or that the outer seats are a little smaller to accommodate this 7th seat? Thanks

I've asked the same question before as well. Best answer I got is that it would probably fit with no problem, you just need the belts, seat, etc to get it in. Hard part is finding the seat, MB won't let you order one or looks at you funny when you ask for it. Something about adding seats could be something dangerous if they don't come that way from the factory. Let us know if you have any luck with it!

The middle seat of the 2nd row cannot be retrofitted or uninstalled. The seat is bolted directly to the frame. Since the R-Class is unibody construction, drilling holes will weaken the frame and as such is no longer certifiable. Removing the seat leaves holes with no support and also revokes the certification.
