Good day everyone. I've been trying to read up on NAV upgrades and am still not entirely clear.
My father is looking to purchase an 06 R350. the car has the screen with NAV button. so i found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts...1%7C240%3A1318 on e-bay.. the DVD ROM....
Besides the antenna splitter, will i need anything to make it work?

Unless there is the 2nd drive above the in-dash CD player the R350 is NOT equipped with NAV. It may have the button, but it is not active within the COMMAND head.

The upgrade for the dealer to do is $2500.

Thanks for your reply. But wouldn't this drive take care of the missing piece? install it and have stealler activate it?

Sorry, all I saw was the DVD when I clicked on your link, before closing.

The drive is the missing piece, but you'll still need the dealer to wire and program, and the splitter from what I understand and have been told. Contrary to the posting, NOT ALL R's were equipped with Tele-Aid as OEM standard equipment from the factory. And thus entails extra wiring from the command to put the tele-aid attena in place.

If you find out something different please let us know.

The DVD player is what you need. It's just a plug-and-play device. If you R does not have Tele Aid, you just need an GPS antena to plug into the back of the Comand head. If there is a Tele Aid, you need a splitter (would located under the driver side back seat) to connect the GPS cable (pre-wired) to the roof Tele Aid antena. Check our links in ML w164 of this forum.
