ipod controller charging the touch
Hi all, I just installed an OEM ipod controller into my new-cpo 2007 r350. It does not charge the Ipod touch. Does anyone else have this issue with the touch? It does charge the nano and all other functions works fine. Also whatever you do don't pay the dealer to install it. 3 hours labor.... It took me 30 minutes, easy. just don't forget to swap the fiber optics connector. Thanks
P.S. If you are in NJ and need a hand with one, PM me and I would be happy to help.

I too have the same issue. And MB should have had more integration with COMAND. I'd like for other people to see what's playing or change tracks via COMAND and not the steering wheel.

well known fact. the new generation touch iPhone require higher voltage so no charging is supported. get an old iPod hard drive based and just keep in you car.

The technical reason it doesn't work is that with these second generation iPod Touch, 4th Gen Nano, 2nd Gen Classic (120GB), and iPhone 3G, Apple has gotten rid of the firewire charging pin on the 30 pin dock connector. Older cables (such as this MB iPod integration kit) utilize the firewire pin as the charging mechanism. This is also why you may not be able to charge your iPod with older iPod accessories.
