what would happen if I use this on my foglights.

It might cause the wire to melt or even on fire. I have seen quiet a few.
You need heavy duty harness that connect in series with OEM harness.
I used H7 NOKYA Hyper Yellolw 2500K 70 Watts bulb w/ heavy duty harness and have no problem so far.

2007 R-500

Plan B, install a relay between stock wiring and light fixture. Run higher guage wire between the relay and the bulb socket. Light switch activates relay; relay activates bulbs.

That is good point just a bit more work.
I beleive a live positive voltage that connect to bulb end must run from battery or some sources and OEM positive wire go to relay.
