IRS Section 179 Disagreement
The accountant says the R will qualify as the R320 has a GVWR of over 6,000. The dealer says, but it's a pasenger car. I trust the accountant more and also know that in 06 the original R had a GVWR of under 6000.
Has anyone used 179 on the business bought R-class?

It is not just the weight. To qualify the vehicle also has to be built on a truck chasis. Answer courtest the Grant Thorton US Master Tax Guide 2009.

Yeah, that's what they said, i just forgot to add that. since the R is built on the same chassis as the ML, i think i'm good. it's also listed on a few sites i've found with vehicles listed. THanks for the response.

Don't Go Counting Your Deductions Before They Hatch
The ML, R and GL are ALL Unibody based rather than the heavier duty and usually greater weight of the previous generation Body on Frame models. I am not a tax expert but I was under the impression that GVW was the sole determinant of eligibility for tax purposes rather than the type of chassis.
