Fueling question

So the "reserve Fuel" thingy comes on which, according to the manual comes on at the end of the tank. THe tank for the Bluetec is 80 litres plus 13L reserve. So I gather that when the reserve fuel icon comes on, am I starting the separate tank or the reserve litres? Anyways, I was only able to put in 72 liters when I thought for sure I would put over 80...am I to assume that their definition of empty is wack? The dealer explained to me that wheh the car says it is empty it is indeed empty. I guess I still had 22 litres in the tank which would have taken me another 200 kilometers!

I guess car companies are all like that aren't they?

On cars I'm familiar with, the "reserve" is not a separate tank. Just the last few gallons before the tank is indeed dry. What did the "distance to empty" screen on the MFD say?

That is incorrect. It is 80L - the 13L reserve. Therefore your "main" tank is only 67L. So when you put in 72L, so you only had 8L to empty.

Good to know, the salesman said the tank is 100L but when I looked in the manual it said 80L and a 13L reserve fuel. If you are telling me that the entire tank is 80L then it makes sense. THanks!

Yes, this is the case. I had plenty of time to read the manual while waiting for the MB tow-truck w/ a can of gas.

Learned the hard way. You can also check your miles to "empty" on your display. It is amazingly accurate.
