I have a 2006 R350. My 2 yr old son likes to pull open the door while driving. I flipped the switch on the door thinking that there was a child proof lock feature. I was WRONG! Now the freaking door won't latch/close. What in the heck am I supposed to do now? has this happened to anyone else? I tried unlatching the switch with a pen and screwdriver but the darn thing won't budge. HELP!

Any updates on this? I haven't bothered to look at the door itself, but from my understanding there aren't any child locks, thats what the drive away locks are for (locks the rear doors, even the handles will not open them, you can however pull up on the lock pin and open the door). Not to sound like a smart ... but did you try locking and unlocking the car using the power door locks?

Thanks for the prompt response. That's okay you weren't coming off as a smart a** but simply put that was the issue. I was extremely embarrassed because I called my husband in a panic and he just simply pulled on the door handle from inside and it was "fixed" (as if it were ever broken). Problem was solved within about an hour. Thank you for your help.

Good to hear all is well.

On a side note, I've found information that states for 2009 and up, R class models do indeed have proper child locks on the rear doors. So the statement above should read all 2008 models and older do not have child locks, they use the drive away locks instead.
