R63 exhaust for R350?
Just curious if it's possible to put an R63 exhaust on my R350? I'm hoping to accomplish two things. A throatier sound, but not loud or intrusive in the cabin like an aftermarket kit. A sportier look to the rear, I think the quads make the R look like a menacing bull from the rear on the R63 models. Does anyone know if MB would even still have R63 parts from 2007 still available? I've heard a C350 (same engine as R350) with a C63 exhaust and IMO it sounds about perfect as a V6 can sound. Also I'm thinking I will need to get an OEM R63 diffuser as well to make it all work.
Also if R63 parts aren't available any longer, do you all think the still in production ML63 exhaust would fit? I'm looking for the entire mufflers and tips from the axle back. An ML is pretty much the same as an R-Class just shorter and taller body. I've seen the back end and an ML350 looks like it has the same mufflers as the R350.

Here's an FYI.
I'm aware that for W211 E-class and R171 SLK, Mercedes officially publishes procedures for retrofitting "AMG Exhaust" to nonAMG versions.
These may not be immediately obvious to users of service DVDs, but a search term "retrofit" will probably find the procedure.
For the SLK, in addition, Mercedes makes a specific kit, i.e. the actual SLK55 AMG mufflers are not used but rather an accessory kit is provided with, indeed, two, two-pipe mufflers. Plus a template for cutting body panels. Plus instructions for cutting old pipes and some clamps.
Worth checking.
PS: Noise regulations in Germany are pretty strict, so without actually hearing it I wouldn't just assume you'll get more "sound" from the AMG system. Also, V6 "sound" is way less pleasant than V8 sound, so more of it may not be what you want.
There is zero reason to think R63 parts no longer available. Mercedes isn't that kind of company.

There is a shop in Japan specialize in Mercedes modification and they did fit R63 exhaust (Muffler) on to non-AMG R. They said they required some modification to match and fit the pipe but it has been done.

I bought the AMG kit from a MB dealer in Italy :
Amg aftermarket Exhaust ML W164. It's the same of R320, R350, R500 . If you need codes, send me a pm.
No modification to match and fit ....

claimweb,
Your R looks good with those parts on.
How much did you pay for both parts?
With just the tips, do you hear any different in exhaust sound ?
Thanks,

I Doubt the tips would make any difference sound wise which is ok for me since this is primarily the family hauler in our household. I do like the look though for sure.

BTW? Are those the real R63 wheels or are they borrowed from another Mercedes model that also fits the R-Class? They look great.

These are the real R63 wheels..
Not replica ( they don't exist ) but original mercedes.
In Italy the R63 wheels are OEM in Premium version.
Mine is not a premium version, so I bought them in Germany near Stoccarda.

They don't fit if you don't change the rear diffuser .
See the photos above ...
""" Exhausts AMG dx + sx = cod 66030870 ( 950,00 euro ) not R63 but W164 AMG
Rear diffuser = cod 2518852225 ( 150,00 euro ) R63 AMG

claimweb, nice R, where do you get the small fender flare on the rear wheel arch extending into the back bumper cover that is in your picture?

Hi claimweb, your car looks great! I also like those small fender above the rear wheels. I did some search for them but not much luck. Would you mind post the part number(s)?

Hey claimweb - Looks fabulous - I'd want to do this Mod. to mine as well - cheaper than a used R63 and identical appearance - you could even badge it correctly!

I was at the dealer to pick up the cabin air filter and asked the parts person for the prices of those 2 items.
Rear diffuser: $355.00 and the exhaust tips: $1,488.00
